In your research on airports, check out policies for various airlines. All airlines and airports are not created equal, as some charge extra bag fees and other supplement charges. Most have similar security and bag check procedures. Narrow your airport search down to those located near you and that feature the airline and plane you’re looking for. Before you book, look into the amenities and offerings of the airports you are considering. Do you take lots of local and international flights for business with frequent layovers? You may be interested to find large airports with several restaurants, cafes, parking garages, and shops, along with nearby hotels. No matter what type of traveler you are, take a look at the field strip, terminals, runways, baggage carousels, and shuttles to assess quality offerings. The airport you choose should have a good standing with customers, with short wait lines, online check-in kiosks, and smooth transfer and security procedures. If the airport you choose allows it, you may be able to print out your airline travel ticket at home. Consider passenger services and assess helpfulness of staff. Are they courteous? Are lines perpetually long or short? Is there plenty of parking? Are there alternatives to standing in long lines, such as kiosks for quick payment and check-in? Check the websites of each airport to learn layout, parking information, directions, and flight info. Also, find out if the airport features a heliport for helicopters, if that is your need. Research codes and guidelines as well. Arrange your transportation accordingly, whether you decide to take a limo or taxi, or drive yourself in. Whether you need local flights or international flights, chances are there is a suitable airport near you that can connect you with your destination via plane as seamlessly as possible.
